1974 to 1984

1974

  • Mumbai Chinmaya Mission hosts the 1st All India Chinmaya Mission Spiritual & Cultural Orientation camp for the teenagers. In his inaugural address Gurudev said that youngsters are deprived of the spiritual values because of the unavailability of the right type of institutions and grooming which cater to their needs. The mission is making an attempt through the teenagers camp to show the world the need for spiritual living in this competitive world of temptations and tensions.

1975

  • Bangalore chinmaya Mission hosts a spiritual camp for teenagers. Gurudev felt that the right time has come for acting a Chinmaya Youth Movement which is named as ‘Chinmaya Youth Forum’ Later on the name changed to Chinmaya Yuva Kendra as gurudev felt it should not be misunderstood as a political youth forum.

1976

  • Br. Haridas Chaitanya is appointed the All India Organising Secretary of CHYK. He becomes the guiding force for the CHYK Movement and conducts the CHYK study groups.

1977

  • Chennai CHYK hosts the 1st All India CHYK Sadhana Camp.

1978

  • Pune CHYK hosts a youth camp and gets a good response.

1979

  • Mumbai CHYK has the privilege of hosting the 2nd All India CHYK Sadhana Camp.

1980

  • Chennai CHYK brings to life Gurudev’s Sankalpa of organising Kamban Tharum Katchi, a light and sound show on Kamban Ramayana (Ramayana written by Kamban, a great Tamil poet). Since then it has been organised more than 40 times at various places in India and abroad.
  • Mumbai CHYK organises a musical concert of M.S. Subbalakshmi and raises Rs. 1 lakh. It was handed over to Gurudev to buy a flat in the suburb of Mumbai for starting a small Mission centre.

1981

  • Mumbai CHYK organises the 1st CHYK Soul-Song Nite. After a month, a second show was staged at the same venue.

1982

  • Calicut CHYK forms an entourage of 260 cars escorting Gurudev for about 10 Kms.
  • Mumbai CHYK organises a youth meet of Gurudev preceded by a survey of 200 youngsters, using a questionnaire.
  • Pune CHYK stages Anandvanbhuvani- a light and sound show on the life and mission of Samarth Guru Ramdas in the august presence of Gurudev. Till date more than 50 shows have been organised in various cities of India.

1983

  • Gurudev gives a new programme called Cam-Tra-Con i.e. Camp, Training and Conference. Mumbai CHYK organises a CHYK Soul-Song Nite. Tirunelveli CHYK organises the 1st All India CHYK Conference.

1984

  • Gurudev appoints H. N. Ramatirtha as AICHYK President and Parindra Kadakia as Secretary general, AICHYK.
  • Coimbatore CHYK has the honour of organising the 1st Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers’ Conference.
  • Mumbai CHYK organises a CHYK Soul-Song Nite.
  • Mumbai CHYK becomes the headquarter of CHYK.
  • Tirunelveli CHYK Member, Ravi Undertakes and All India cycle tour from Kanyakumari to Kashmir to spread the message of brotherhood, national unity and integration. His tour was of 60 days.

1985

  • Chennai CHYK prganises Yuva Jana Mahotsav featuring All India Arts & Handicrafts Exhibition cum Competition. Gurudev inaugurated the programme. Mumbai CHYK organises the 2nd Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.

1986

  • Chennai CHYK takes part in the International Run for Peace organised under the aegis of UNICEF. They also collect Rs. 35,000 by staging Kamban Tharum Katchi. Guntur CHYK organises a poor-feeding programme and flood-relief drive, thus helping 400 families of the village in Bhimavaram. Mumbai CHYK hosts the 3rd Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference. Pune CHYK hosts a National Camp of Gurudev eliciting a response from 176 participants. Temple visits, bicycle and motorcycle yatras all over India.

1987

  • Chyks participate in large number from all over India in Hanuman Abhishek at Sidhbari. Mumbai CHYK organises a CHYK Soul-Song Nite. Another CHYK Soul-Song Nite is organised at Chembur in aid of NASEOH. Mumbai CHYK organises the 4th Annuall All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.

1988

  • Cochin CHYK organises the 5th Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers’ Conference.
  • Coimbatore CHYK leads a 30 km Torch March on the inauguration of Sandeepany Sadhanalaya (Tamil Naidu).
  • Kasargod CHYK hosts the All India Cam-Tracon with 150 delegates.
  • In the 3rd International yajna at Cochin, about 60 Chyks from Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai reach Cochin on bikes covering around 800 kms.
  • Regional camps held all over India.

1989

  • Bangalore CHYK organises a Soul-Song Sandhya as a fund raisin programme to release the cassette Tapovan Anjali.
  • Chennai CHYK releases Hari Om Bhajan Vol II during Divya Sangamam, a light and sound show. Chinchwad CHYK raises Rs. 10,000 through a souvenir.
  • Hyderabad CHYK members attend 1st All Andhra camp on bicycles covering 365 kms in 4 days.
  • Hyderabad CHYK sends a huge Get-Well card to Mother Teresa measuring 6m x 3m, which was signed by 3000 local citizens.
  • A new guideline book for CHYK called Chinmaya Yuva Kendra Guidelines is brought out.

1990

  • Hyderabad CHYK organises a bhajan sandhya of Anup Jalota in the presence of Gurudev. Chyks raise around Rs. 1.5 lakhs from that programme and donates for the construction of Sandeepany Kailash in Hyderabad.
  • Tumkur CHYK hosts the All India CHYK Soul-Sing Sandhya. 60 artists entertain an audience of 800 to generate Rs. 40,000 for the construction of Chinmaya Geeta Mandir.

1991

  • Allahabad centre brings out an annual magazine Chinmaya Tarun.
  • Bangalore CHYK hosts the 1st National Youth Convention on ‘Hinduism - its past, present and future’ in which around 700 youth participated.
  • Chinmaya International Foundation., Cochin organises Chant Geeta - Land Washington; National Geeta Chanting Competition under its guidance throughout the country. CHYK centres help in organising the competition which resulted in heavy participation all over India.
  • Dombivli CHYK hosts the 8th All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.
  • Dombivli CHYK raises Rs. 25,000 by publishing souvenir Ganandish and hand over the amount to Karjat.
  • Mulund CHYK enthrals the audience in Kalidas hall with a CHYK Soul-Song Nite and offered the collection for Suvarna Tulabhar.
  • Mumbai CHYK organises All India CHYK Soul-Song Nite.
  • Rourkela CHYK organises likhita japan of Maha Mrityunjaya Mantra on the eve of Gurudev’s 75th Birthday.

1992

  • Gurudev addresses more than twelve Universities in USA.
  • Bangalore CHYK organises 9th All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.
  • Chennai CHYK organises All India CHYK Soul-Song Nite.
  • Chennai CHYK presents Sambhavami Yuge Yuge, a programme depicting evolution of man, physical, mental and spiritual through the Dashavatar of Lord Narayana. It was done in the aid of Anant Free-Medicare.
  • Chyks attend and volunteer Hanuman Abhishek at Sidhbari in large number.
  • Hyderabad CHYK organises Geeta Chanting Competitions at the state level in which many students participated.
  • Rewa CHYK organises an All India CHYK Camp.

1993

  • Swami Tejomayananda appoints R.B. Singh as the AICHYK President.
  • AICHYK orgainises a 7-day spiritual youth camp under the benign grace of Gurudev in Sidhbari. The number of participants exceeded 600. This was the last camp of Gurudev with youth, before his Mahasamadi.
  • Bangalore CHYK actively participates in the Latur Earthquake Relief Measures.
  • Cannanore CHYK hosts the 10th Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.
  • Hyderabad CHYK organises a CHYK meet with Gurudev where he addressed the youth on the topic Our Debts. This was his last youth meet before Mahasamadhi.
  • Rourkela CHYK adopts an innovative way of spreading Gurudev’s message - displaying Gurudev quotations on Work Culture in the Industrial premises of Rourkela Steel Plant, L & T and Bank of Rourkela in a bid to inculcate our glorious culture in employees.

1994

  • Kolkata CHYK charms the audience with a CHYK Soul-Song Nite.
  • Kolkata CHYK organises the 11th Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.
  • All India CHYK releases a souvenir.
  • Tumkur CHYK enters unchartered territory by organising Bhav Dhara, a musical evening with a sangam of artists from such far off states like Kerala, Tamil Naidu, Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Kashmir and Karnataka presenting folk songs.
  • Vadagaon Rasai Chyk undertakes renovation of an ancient Shiv Temple.

1995

  • Parindra Kadakia is appointed as the Executive President AICHYK and Br. Aniket Chaitanya as the Secretary - General AICHYK.
  • Mumbai CHYK organises a CHYK Soul-Song Nite.

1996

  • AICHYK brings out a book, published by CCMT Swami Chinmayananda - As I know Him.
  • Bangalore CHYK Organises Krishnavaibhavam, an audio-visual programme picturing the life of Lord Krishna, in aid of Chinmaya Vidyalaya and orphanage home.
  • Bangalore CHYK organises Samsmaranam which had 80 sessions of Vedic chanting.
  • Chennai CHYK replays after nearly 10 years Kamban Tharum Katchi.
  • Coimbatore CHYK collects Rs. 2,50,000 for Help Save a life Project to get an ambulance for the rural development work at Chinmaya Gardens.
  • Indore CHYK comes out with its bi-monthly magazine for youngsters Chinmaya Udghosh.
  • Mumbai CHYK has the pleasure of hosting the 13th Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.
  • Vijayawada CHYK helps in flood relief work in Krishna district with relief fund amounting to Rs. 50,000

1997

  • Chennai CHYK hosts the 14th Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.
  • Chennai CHYK stages four shows of Kamban Tharum Katchi in SriLanka. They raise a sum of Rs. 30 Lakhs and donate for the construction of Hanuman Temple, Rambodha. A Sum of Rs. 18 lakhs was collected from a show at Kamraj Arangam for the construction of Chinmaya Heritage Centre, Rs 10 lakhs were collected by staging the show at Salem, Coimbatore, Mudurai, Trichy and Chennai.
  • Chinmaya Udghosh elevated to become the national mouthpiece of AICHYK to be brought out by Indore CHYK.
  • Deuladiha CHYK starts their journey by helping in the development of their village through roadside plantations, village pond clearing, garbage collection and disposal and so. on.
  • Mulund CHYK present a musical tribute to Gurudev at Mahakavi Kalida Natya Mandir.

1998

  • Calicut CHYK organised Chinmaya Pratibha Contest, which is an attempt to bring out the multidimensional talents of the youngsters in a unique way by having four elimination rounds and gruelling session of interviews of the finalists.
  • Chennai CHYK undertakes a bike rally to Laddakh, Leh ad Kargil.
  • Coimbatore CHYK has the privilege of organising the 15th Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference.
  • Delhi CHYK stages a 2-day show titled Fusion which includes dance, fabric, painting, designing of clothes, music, ceramics and organic food.
  • Hubli CHYK organises a Spiritual Book Exhibition with 10 different religious organisation taking part.
  • Indore CHYK completes the target of 75 talks for youngsters called Explore by the Acharya in - charge.
  • Kolkata CHYK undertakes a unique fund generation programme - collecting old newspapers - netting Rs. 12,000.
  • Melbourne Chyk, Australia organises a Kargil fund raiser programme and raises $6000.
  • Vizianagaram CHYK organises Chinamaya Prabha, a programme to create awareness.

1999

  • AICHYK hosts a National Youth Camp at Sidhbari named The Victorious Youth in the blessed presence of Swami Tejomayanada.
  • Calicut CHYK provides free medical treatment to the physically ailing every Sunday under the project Chinmaya Sanjeevam. The project has been continuing for more than two years.
  • Chennai CHYK organises Bharat Darshan, visits to places of historic, spiritual and patriotic importance like Mathura, Haridwar, Hrishikesh, Wagha Border, Jallianwala Bagh etc. under the guidance of the acharya in - charge culminating in a camp at Sidhbari.   • CHYK presents a play called LOC i.e. Line of Control based on Gurudev’s quotes.
  • Chyks all over India participate actively in Orissa Cyclone Relief Measure.
  • Cochin CHYK organises the 16th Annual All India CHYK Office Bearers Conference at Chinmaya International Foundation.
  • Melbourne CHYK, Australia organises a Gujrat earthquake relief fund raiser programme and raises $13,000

2000

  • Swami Mitrananda appointed as the President, AICHYK and Br. Govind Chaitanya as the Secretary General, AICHYK.
  • Adoni CHYK contributes Rs. 20,000 for Gujarat Relief Fund.
  • Chennai CHYK presents the play LOC in the August presence of the three defence chiefs of Army, Navy and Air Force.
  • Chennai CHYK Becomes the new headquarter of AICHYK.
  • Chennai CHYK collects about Rs. 6 to 7 lakhs for victims of Orissa cyclone.
  • Madurai CHYK organises a medical camp along with Arvind Eye Hospital and a local club. 1500 patients are benefitted with 503 in the eye care section alone.
  • Shimoga CHYK wins the recognition for the larger number of participants (1800) in the Art of Man Making quiz competition.
  • Melbourne CHYK organises a National Chyk Camp to celebrate the Silver Jubilee of CHYK Around 110 participants form all over Australia attended the camp.

To celebrate the Silver Jubilee of CHYK following activities were organised by AICHYK

  • Art of Man Making quiz competitions all over India.
  • Bangalore CHYK hosts National CHYK Convention and organises Finals of Art of Man Making quiz competition.
  • Glory of Geeta talks given by Chyks in various schools and colleges for promoting Gurudev’s message on Bhagavad Geeta.
  • Tumkur CHYK holds a medical camp providing free check-up and medicines to remote villages, covering 1360 villagers till now.

2001

  • Miami CHYK participates in the International Friendship Walk 201’ portraying & narrating the stories of the great saints of India.
  • Thrissur CHYK organises Vijaysangamam , a full day academic seminar on success. This was the first of its kind in the history of CHYK movement having a staggering participation of around 10,000 youngsters at one place.

Years Unknown

  • Bokaro & Chas CHYK distributes clothes and medicine to villagers in remote villages every year in November- December.
  • Jamnagar CHYK a new centre with just 25 members, conducts regular Harishala classes to educate little kids from slum areas.
  • Dombivli CHYK enthrals the audience of 7 cities with a musical show on Marathi literature Abhangdarshan.
  • Hong Kong CHYK brings out Seva, a quarterly news-letter.
  • Salem CHYK translates many Chinmaya Publications into Tamil.
  • Tumkur CHYK Involves 500 people to write One crore om Namah Shivaya Likhita japa for the Omkareshwar Temple in Chokkahalli, Kolar.
